In Brisque 3.0.38 or 4.0, the Macintosh OS9 views data volumes as application packages

Product

  Brisque 3.0.38 Update CD2 or Brisque 4.0

Platform

  Macinstosh OS 9

Operating system

IBM AIX 4.2.1 or IBM 4.3.3

Symptoms

Macintosh OS9 reads data folders on the server as Application packages and not as accessible data volumes.

Cause

Macintosh OS 9 views certain folders as application packages, preventing  navigation to data volumes through application finding search engines.

Solution

  1. On the Macinstosh OS 9 CD, from the Utilities folder, copy the Package First Aid utility to your G4 desktop.
  2. Run the Package First Aid patch, which modifies the Apple's utility to enable it to fix Helios server volumes as folders.

A new utility Package First Aid patched is created.

  1. Drag the server volume icons from your desktop to the Package First Aid patched icon.

The utility automatically fixes any volumes that were incorrectly identified as an Application package.

  1. Reboot the G4.
  2. Rebuild the desktop.
  3. Reboot the G4 again to mount the server volumes.
To fix any remaining G3 or G4 desktops:
  1. Rebuild the G3 or G4 desktops.
  2. Reboot.
